Company:

The IK4‐IKERLAN Technology research centre (Mondragón, Spain) was created in 1974 at the initiative of a group of companies and entities which today form part of the MONDRAGON Corporation.

It is a reference centre for the innovation and comprehensive development of mechatronic and energy products. It also actively innovates in advanced manufacturing.

Function description

The objective of this work is to develop a methodology for structural health monitoring of smart structures. This methodology will consider the dynamics response of the system, will optimize the number of employed sensors and its location and will process the available data in order to define the implementation of damage detection and localization strategies that will also take into account the variability of environmental and operational conditions. The developed methodology will be validated on available test rigs.

Profile

You have an Engineering degree, preferably in mechanical engineering or communications. You have a broad technical background, including in‐depth knowledge of either structural dynamics (system dynamics, finite element modeling) or signal processing (the conjunction of these different skills would be highly valuated), and you are interested in new technologies.

We offer

We offer a challenging and varied job with a lot of industrial interactions in an informal atmosphere. The activity will be part of a European project on Energy Efficient Smart Structures. A contract of 3 years will be offered. The possibility is offered to pursue a PhD degree on this topic.

Eligibility criteria (in short)

We are seeking an early‐stage researcher that holds a degree in Engineering and has less than 4 years of experience. Moreover, candidates should not have resided or carried out her/his main activity in Spain for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to her/his appointment.
